VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is an impartial multidisciplinary expert organisation. VTT has a strong background in microelectronics, measurement techniques, sensor technology, and wireless communication technologies. VTT has an experience of over 10 years in designing and manufacturing MEMS based sensors and actuators. VTT has participated in several international, national and industrial research projects where micromechanics have been successfully utilized in various applications. VTT has a vast experience in RFID technology micro- and millimetre-wave technologies, and in ultrasound measuring techniques. VTT has developed passive and active radar tags, and their validation and testing.
VTT has a strong, worldwide well known background in design, fabrication, modelling, and characterization of innovative, silicon based, state-of-the-art MEMS devices. We have developed capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) and MEMS pressure sensor technologies in several national and international research projects. The tasks have included process development, fabrication, design, modelling, and characterization of the devices in conjunction with development of read-out electronics. VTT has a vast experience of two decades working in various EU projects as a partner and as a coordinator. In 2011 alone, VTT was involved in 322 EU-funded research projects.
